Separácia prebieha v rotujúcej nádobe s plným opláštením. Odstredivá sila vytáča vodu a pevné čiastočky smerom von. Voda sa zhromažďuje v tesnení, z ktorého odteká do kanálika pod ním. Pevné čiastočky sa zhromažďujú na stene nádoby a dajú sa ľahko odstrániť ručne.
Čistý olej prúdi smerom dovnútra a hore k lopatkovému disku. Keďže čistý olej sa otáča, tento stacionárny disk funguje ako čerpadlo a tlačí ho von cez výpust.

Achieving more with less effort
On many workboats and leisure vessels, reliability, time and money are in focus on the Dutch fishing vessel Prins Maurits. Using an Alfa Laval MIB 503 separator, Chief Engineer Auke van Slooten has doubled the life expectancy of his main engine’s lube oil, saving 1400 litres of oil a year and nearly two hours of cleaning time per week. Distillate fuels (MGO/MDO) / Lubricating oils
MIB503 separators clean distillates and lubricating oils with densities up to 920 kg/m3 at 15°C and viscosities up to 150 cSt at 40°C.
Biofuels
The separator can treat distillate fuels according to ISO 8217 comprising FAME or HVO in any blend ratio,
- where FAME at the time of blending shall be in accordance with the requirements of EN 14214 or ASTM D6751.
- where HVO at the time of blending shall be in accordance with the requirements of EN 15940.
Other types of biofuels, such as vegetable oils or blends of FAME and HVO components outside the above-mentioned standards, should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
